Ripens dark Red/Black
M.A.M.P. stands for Mojo Adicted Mutation Pepper from Enrico Lai. Enrico discovered a dark foliage, red ripening BBG in 2014 from his friend Arne's seeds. Enrico did a test cross with BBG and Pimenta De Neyde to see if that might have been the unknown cross. It couldn't be fully determined. Enrico and enthusiasts found a plethora of variations with dark and green leaf phenotypes over the years. It has spawned about every color under the rainbow, with and without the bleeding calyx. I found this color variant in 2017 from the original red pheno sent to me by Florissa Arroyo. Jes Christensen also found some black with the calyx ripening first trait directly from Enrico. I know I wasn’t the only one to find some phenos and I felt it was wrong to remove MAMP from the name. We didn’t need multiple names for every variation. Many people claimed phenos as their creations or say they responsible for them all. In all reality it was just fast tracked to market with little work, and omitted that they are also from Florissa’s seeds. This kind of race to rename phenos/variations, is becoming a major plague in the pepper community. The phenos I have came from my grow out and when you see these names and color tags you know they are probably from T-E. Selection deserves some credit but it shouldn’t steal credit from the origin. I noticed some plants with different shading and I subsequently broke up the phenos. Expect differences in size,shape, shade and some that don't carry the bleeding calyx. I even have suspicions that the pale yellow/cream, green leaf, BBG that spawned the regular purplegums; may be MAMP. This is why it is always important pass on a peppers heritage & history.
